RAK Hospital, Ras Al Khaimah (UAE)
Over the last years, the economy of Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) showed a fast growth. The development of the local health care system, however, had not kept up with the economic development. The hospital infrastructure had to be adapted to the desires and needs of the increasing number of local people demanding a high standard in health care. His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, decided to build a 50 bed private hospital with extension plans to 100 beds. The goverment of Ras al Khaimah together with ETA Star Healthcare (a local group of investors) founded a joint venture, the Arabian Healthcare, to finance the new hospital. The vision was to build a health center with high standards in medical care and excellent hospitality. After the construction phase of the respective facility, a Hospital Management Contract was signed between Arabian Healthcare and SSH.
On November 25th 2007, RAK Hospital was opened by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by respresentatives of the UAE and Swiss officials.
"We are proud to introduce Sonnenhof to this part of the world and are confident that the people of our region will greatly benefit from the Swiss heritage of premium healthcare and hospitality." (Mr. Raza Siddiqui, Executive Director, ETA Star Healthcare)
Today, RAK Hospital is very well established and is continuing its successful development. Since the end of 2008, the hospital is not only accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), but also accredited member of The Swiss Leading Hospitals (SLH).
